Participation Rules

Eligibility

  • All Hack Clubbers under 18 can participate
  • High schoolers over 18 in the USA can participate through a club/hackathon
  • Participants must register before the deadline
  • Each participant can submit only one project
  • Team submissions are allowed with a maximum of 3 members per team

Code of Conduct

  • All participants must adhere to the Hack Club Code of Conduct
  • Be respectful and supportive of other participants
  • Inappropriate or offensive content will result in disqualification
  • All communication should be constructive and respectful
  • Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated

Submission Rules

  • All submissions must be original work
  • No copy-pasting code from other projects or sources
  • Submissions must be made before the deadline (no exceptions)
  • Projects must be hosted and accessible for judging
  • Source code must be publicly available on GitHub

Time Investment Requirements

⏰ Required Time for Patties ⏰

The number of patties you can earn is directly related to the time you invest in your project:

1 Patty

Minimum time required: 7+ hours

Reward: A $10 grant for burgers & a Raspberry Pi (Zero/Zero W/Zero 2 W)

2 Patties

Minimum time required: 11+ hours

Reward: A $15 grant for burgers & a Cluster HAT for the Raspberry Pi (Zero/Zero W/Zero 2 W)

3 Patties

Minimum time required: 20+ hours

Reward: A $20 grant for burgers & A full Raspberry Pi 3 B+ Cluster HAT with 1 Raspberry Pi (Zero/Zero W/Zero 2 W)

Note: Time investment is just one factor (but an important one). Quality, innovation, and adherence to requirements are also essential for earning patties and better hardware rewards!

Judging Rules

Evaluation Process

  • All submissions will be evaluated by a panel of judges
  • Judging will proceed as described in the Requirements page
  • Judges' decisions are final and cannot be influenced
  • All projects which do not meet the minimum requirements set by the judges will not be considered

Fair Play

Every contestant is encouraged to utilize new advanced methods throughout the entire contest and by doing so, turning this event into an educational opportunity.

Remember these key points:

  • Have fun! The goal of the event is encourage learning and creativity.
  • Be original - create something never imagined before it's what this event is about
  • Don't be shy to ask for assistance - that's what the community is for
  • Share knowledge - help others when you can
